Would you like to experience the way our grandparents and our ancestors used to live when only available from the goods and resources offered by the field and Mother Nature? Do you want to know how they elaborated and what ingredients used for cooking dishes? The stay in the Guájar rural house is ideal for those who wants to spend a weekend out of town, fleeing the rush, the monotony, pollution and environmental noise both to soak in the experience of living a days in the countryside surrounded by nature, tranquility and a rural way as in ancient times and the facility to stay in the same place where workshops are conducted.
Day 1 In the morning: You begin your day with a delicious traditional breakfast which includes: fresh orange juice, coffee or tea, bread, olive oil, fresh goats cheese, homemade jam/marmalades, nuts and a piece of cake.
Once revitalised, a farmer will take you on a tour of his farm where he will explain the different types of crops in a Mediterranean garden, the techniques used, planting, etc.. You will visit the pool from which emerges a network of ditches with which guides the water to irrigate crops area. The pool also has 3 ancient stones where women washed clothes with natural soap, made by craftswomen reusing leftover frying oil. You will pick vegetables that will be used to prepare the soup Mondeña. This is a traditional dish eaten mainly by workers who developed agricultural jobs due to their high nutritional value which is served in a “dornillo” (a hand-crafted wooden bowl) where previously the bread crumbs to later add the refried you get to cook the garlic, peppers, tomatoes with olive oil and water. After lunch: Workshop with the harvested fruit jam, which depend on the season that we are. Participants will take a sample of the finished product.
Optional dinner (At an additional fee) Should you wish we will be happy provide a delicious barbeque dinner with a selection of meats: a small piece of steak, lamb chops, sausage, bacon, grilled tomato. Baked potato or salad. Glass of wine, beer or soft drink.
Day 2 In the morning: Breakfast: fresh orange juice, coffee or tea, bread, olive oil, fresh goat cheese, homemade jams, nuts and a piece of cake. They will tour the farm and identify different types of herbs, some will be collected, which are used to produce marinated olives. Explanation of the olive, a little history, jobs such as logging, burning browse and pick olives. Workshop olive dressing. Tasting the different types of seasonings: olives “partidas”, “zajadas” and “enteras” with red wine, beer, soft drinks, ... At the end participants will take a sample of the product. |
